Summer is almost coming to an end, and there are lots of events coming up in Hamilton before we head into autumn! So here are some fun things to do in Hamilton to enjoy the rest of your summer!
Gourmet in the Gardens
Gourmet in the Gardens has been such a popular summer event in Hamilton and it’s absolutely wonderful to go with family and friends at the lovely Hamilton Gardens. There’s live music, sunshine, and a delicious selection of cuisines with plenty of food trucks to choose from. You can pack a picnic blanket, your favorite book, a game to play for the kids, and enjoy the day at the gardens!
Gourmet in the Gardens takes place every Sunday from 4.00pm to 8.00pm until Sun, 28th March 2021.

Gallagher Fireworks
This event is put on by Sir William and Lady Judi Gallagher as a gift to the families of Hamilton. This is a family event. You can go to Innes Common and enjoy the display. You are welcome to bring a picnic meal and blanket and your whole family. Fireworks will begin approx 8:45pm.

Hamilton Chinese Lantern Festival
Join in for a fantastic evening celebrating Chinese New Year with a Dragon Dance, Magic Show, Live Cultural Performances, Food Stalls & Chinese Lanterns.
Food stalls will be in Garden Place from 4 pm with the event starting at 6 pm.
You can also enjoy the different performances including a dragon dance, magic show, live cultural performances, Chinese lanterns and some delicious food!

Grooves in The Gardens Retro Market
This one is all about beats, eats and vintage treats!
With 50+ hand-picked vendors from around the country stocking 1000’s of collectibles, a stack of vinyl DJ’s across 2 stages, food trucks, entertainment and a bunch of surprises, it’s a fantastic day to bring out the family and enjoy the last day of summer at GITG21.

Balloons Over Waikato 2021
Balloons over Waikato is New Zealand’s hot air balloon festival. Held annually, in Hamilton, this iconic event it is arguably the most popular event in the city. It attracts balloonists from all over New Zealand and around the world, who come to experience the fun, friendship and warmth this balloon friendly city provides and to demonstrate their skills in a range of competitive activities.
Throughout five days, you can enjoy the amazing sites of balloons ascending through the Waikato sunrise from 7 am every morning and Hamilton’s biggest night out at the Zuru Nightglow, where the balloons glow to orchestrated music finishing with the best fireworks display in town!

Hamilton Farmers’ Market
The Hamilton Farmers’ Market is an ongoing event that taken place every Sunday from 10am to 3pm and is a great way to do your shopping, eat some yummy food and spend your Sunday with family and friends.
Fresh seasonal fruit & vegetables, meat, fish, cheese, milk, bread, honey, condiments from local farmers and producers directly sold to you. You can also have a coffee or brunch while you buy your supplies!
